| In
recognition that not all sailors wish to focus on racing, Redlands is able
to offer when required, dinghy cruising and expeditions through the
Duke of Edinburgh Scheme. Long a part of Redland's life, students may pursue their D.of E. aspirations through sailing activity. The scheme is
graded into three levels - Bronze, Silver and Gold - of increasing
difficulty and duration. Students are trained in all aspects of seamanship
and expedition practice prior to embarking on their first expedition.
Whilst in principle the trips are unaccompanied, a "mother ship"
is always in the vicinity and in radio contact. |
