Duke of Edinburgh Scheme

     Sailing at Redlands
In recognition that not all sailors wish to focus on racing, Redlands is able to offer when required, dinghy cruising and expeditions through the Duke of Edinburgh Scheme. Long a part of Redland's life, students may pursue their D.of E. aspirations through sailing activity. The scheme is graded into three levels - Bronze, Silver and Gold - of increasing difficulty and duration. Students are trained in all aspects of seamanship and expedition practice prior to embarking on their first expedition. Whilst in principle the trips are unaccompanied, a "mother ship" is always in the vicinity and in radio contact.
The Duke of Edinburgh programme is  based in the Hawkesbury River/Broken Bay area and operates out of the Broken Bay Sport & Recreation Centre. Puffin Pacer dinghies are used for all expeditions.

The administration of the scheme is done through the normal Redlands D. of E. channels but enquiries can be directed to the sailing programme.
